南美洲圭亚那服务之旅
在我们最近的学校放假期间，有9名学生, along with Sister Jenny went on a trip that extended the Circle of Mercy over International Boarders. We joined students from Our Lady of Mercy 学校 for Young Women in Rochester to travel to Guyana, 南美. The forty boys who live at the orphanage that is sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy were also on spring break. 每个人都玩游戏和做工艺品玩得很开心. Sister Julie Matthews and the boys were gracious hosts and introduced us to their traditions. 在品尝圭亚那食物的同时，还打了几场板球比赛. We spent a great day exploring the Amazon Rainforest, 学校 Masses and Prayer 服务s.
校园部

We celebrate Catherine McAuley’s birthday and honor the anniversary of her death with a various activity. Every year we have our first school mass of the school year on Mercy Day (September 24th) and recognize our role in the Circle of Mercy.
服务
The 校园部 department provides a variety of service opportunities for students. 学生 are encouraged to take an active role in their school and community by giving back in meaningful ways As a Mercy school we look to the 的关键问题 of the Sisters of Mercy, 以及凯瑟琳·麦考利的遗产来帮助我们构建服务项目. 学生 have learned to practice hospitality in the spirit of Catherine McAuley as they prepare dinner each month for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of WNY. Mercy girls have enjoyed working with Journey’s End as we learn what it means to “stand in solidarity with immigrants”. 学生 have addressed the concerns of “practicing non violence” and “deepening our response to racism” by volunteering to help out at St. 卢克的仁慈使命. We are learning to “reverence the Earth” through our service with the Olmstead Parks Conservancy. 学生 have “embraced our particular concern for women” by supporting drives for women’s shelters and supporting the Harvest House Baby Ministry. Opportunities for service are posted outside the main office on the service lockers.

每个年级每学年都参加一次班级静修活动. The class retreats provide an opportunity to bond as a class and celebrate friendships. All four retreats focus on the 的关键问题 of the Sisters of Mercy and the Legacy of Catherine McAuley in different ways. 新生被介绍到慈悲圈, and seniors are encouraged to reflect on their Mercy experience as their time at Mount Mercy学院 comes to a close.

In January, we were privileged to welcome Lauren Walier as a guest speaker to our school community. Julia Khoury '18, led the effort to bring Lauren to school and rallied the school community service to support Make Lemon Aide for CP. 劳伦患有脑瘫, 但她一直在努力克服与CP相关的身体挑战. 多亏了一种新的物理疗法, 劳伦已经可以不用轮椅了, 给一个步行者, 到独立行走. 此外，劳伦还参加了交际舞比赛! Pictured above was the Run, Walk, or Roll in Lauren's Shoes 5k and 1 mile fun walk. Julia Khoury, Liv Larson和Mary Colby参加了这次活动. It was incredibly inspiring to see so many CP warriors participating in the event despite physical challenges. 跑步对健康来说很难, 有能力的人, but this race was a good reminder to be thankful for sore muscles because you have the ability to use them! Easton Jordon, a CP warrior in WNY who is making great strides using the Symptoms Recovery Model. Easton completed the WHOLE 1 MILE WALK using his walker, and grinned the whole time. (他就是那个穿绿衣服的小家伙). This is something that wouldn't have been possible without access to the Symptoms Recovery Model physical therapy.
